The prosecution alleges that Maureen on June 12, 2023, at First Community Bank jointly with others yet to be arrested conspired to defraud Kenyatta National Hospital of Ksh 40,666,355.

She was further charged with forging a bank statement at Equity Bank showing a transaction of Ksh 10 million purporting it to have been issued by the bank.

She faced another charge of forging a notification of award for a contract supply of medical gas mixtures and Specialty gases in the surgery department at KNH for a supply of Ksh 5.5 million at the Hospital.

Appearing before Milimani Law Courts Senior Principal Magistrate, the accused through her advocate told court that she was not medically fit to stand trial and hence pleaded with the court to defer the plea.

However, the prosecution opposed the application saying the defense failed to supply a medical report of the suspect indicating her medical condition hence the application is based on hearsay.

The court ruled that there was no sufficient evidence to prove she was medically unfit to stand trial.

She pled not guilty to the offenses and she was remanded to Monday 11, September when the trial Court would give direction on her bail release.
